The cold winter conditions can be cruel to your curls. And while >curly hair care regimes can vary per curl type one thing is for certain: the cold elements can be just as harsh as heat. Arming your locks against such extreme conditions can be a daunting task. No one wants to spend eons bringing liveliness into their hair for it to be brought to a brittle end after minutes in the cold.
If you’re looking for a conditioning product to both lock in moisture and enhance your curl definition, Pure Silk Protein is your best bet. It works best when used as part of a conditioning treatment and is rinsed out clean. Here are a couple of tips to help with the process:
• Use this product after you’ve washed your hair thoroughly
• Apply Pure Silk Protein from mid shaft to the ends of hair and let it sit under a plastic cap for 10-15 minutes
• Instead of a towel, use jersey material (ie. a t-shirt) to absorb the water. Terry cloth can disturb your curl coil and bring frizz to new heights
• Apply your post wash and conditioning products and use your diffuser at your discretion
For best results, I use this product as part of a treatment regime on a weekly basis. As mentioned before, although it works very well as a conditioner it can be used as a (leave in) conditioner/moisturizer between washes. I find that when it’s applied from the middle to the tips of my hair, it reduces frizz significantly and leaves a great shine. It can also be used on stand-alone unruly curls. To whip those frizzy rebels back into shape, take a skittle-sized drop of the Pure Silk Protein conditioner between your index finger and thumb and apply it about 2 inches from the root to the tip of your hair. Repeat this process a couple of times or until your curl gets it’s definition back.
Pure Silk Protein conditioner isn’t greasy but is surprisingly jam packed with moisture. This in turn will help with your prepping process as it aids in managing your hair without weighing down your natural curls. Because it is on the lighter side, it can be used as often as you wash your hair and should leave you with shiny, soft and defined curls. Winter doesn’t seem so bad now, does it?
