Speed Styling

Many people never have enough time to style their hair to perfection. What can you do if you are strapped for time but still want that great look? Curly heads know how important it is to be able to style their hair when short of time. Preparation is the key to the success of the styling process.

When you use high heat appliances such as curling irons and hot rollers to get your curls, you will notice more frizz in humid weather and even when perspiring. When you achieve your curls through the styling and drying process from wet to dry you will have more control over the frizz in all weather and activity conditions. Just taking an extra few moments during the first critical preparation stage to achieve your desired hairstyle will pay off throughout your day and night as the style will look better and last longer. We do not use alcohol in any of our products because it dries out, damages hair and strips away necessary moisture. The use of alcohol in hair products does speed up drying time but comes with the cost of damaging hair. We recommend using certain techniques to allow you to overcome long drawn out styling and drying time.

The frizzier your hair is the more Curl Keeper is needed. The more Curl Keeper that is needed, the wetter your hair should be. When your hair is wet it is never frizzy and Curl Keeper will duplicate the same control as water. The first 5 minutes of styling time are critical and you should make sure there is as little movement as possible. After 5 minutes your hair will become surface dry. This is when the outer layer of the hair cuticle will start to dry in a closed position. You can then speed up the drying process with a diffuser on high heat, but make sure you don’t get too close. Diffuse from a distance with as little movement as possible. You can use either of of our Hot Sock Diffuser or Bonnet Hood Dryer at this stage. The third and final step allows you to be more aggressive with the diffuser and you can diffuse right to the roots. At this stage your curls will soften. The main function of a diffuser is to keep the heat but control the air stream of your hairdryer.

Once your hair is dry you can always reactivate the Curl Keeper with water. If you have frizzy areas caused by too much movement, overplaying or drying, just run your wet hands over the frizzy areas and this will control all flyaway pieces and frizz. Water reactivates Curl Keeper .

Speed Styling – To avoid flat spots and create volume when styling in a short amount of time use the Roller Jaw Clamps . The Roller Jaw Clamps will provide extra support and bounce. Using them at the same time as the Bonnet Hood Dryer will result in a fresh bouncy, controlled look with minimum of drying and styling time.
